People today are making extensive use of Internet, but less than few know how to make money from the info highway. We all have grown up searching for answers on google (could be said in this age), the big search engine giant made its (early) money from advertisements enhanced with meta-tags and keywords. As it introduced projects like gmail, google docs, others, it was clever to determine the future of user hut. And it bought existing projects like youtube, blogger, picassa, others where people could express their life, which in-turn elevated socialism. During this course, Google became a company for all. Today we can share its income, thanks to Adsense. I have always noticed people don't want to see the obvious, or may be we are half somnolent. But it is just the matter of little patience and following a simple guide.

Hands on Augmented Reality

Ok this is a new cover for my wall. The future of Digital Media, I brought this concept home. By LEXVOX this is an amazing little desktop companion to display wide range of formats. Simply take the memory card out of your digital camera, phone, etc. and slide it into the back of this unit.Within seconds you will see a high quality slide show of your photos with random transition effect or single photo.
It also displays files from a USB stick directly.

Just not that, you can switch from picture mode to video mode to watch a movie or to switch to music mode to listen to your digital music file.
Each of these modes also allows viewing/listening from a wide selection of file formats like Divx, avi, mpeg4, mp3, wav and others, while the sound output is accomplished from the built in stereo speakers, or you can even use your own headset.

Portable is Good

Probably not far, but in the near future you will see multiple TB size disc is read by your ROM (then a higher version compatible). Users are looking for more capacity but with much more better speed to store large amount of data. While for the time now, i was only looking for a portable SATA HDD that fits my pocket easily. What I can take anywhere. Good enough space for backup. It took nearly weeks for me to find this in the town side. I could only get to see 500 GB Maxtors, Transcends and Seagates. All were bulky in size and also required external power to detect until I found just launched Buffalo's Turbo USB (HD-PS400U2).
This is the new member in the MiniStation line that bundles a wrap-around cable for easy storage. 400GB big in capacity, smallest of all in dimensions. And with a speed of 5400 rpm. Connects USB 2.0 port. This certainly looked good for the match.
With the ability to draw power from the PC it is connected to, it requires no external power supply providing a lightweight storage solution that is ideal for users like me.

Type the keywords 'Mumbai Navigator' on Google or Yahoo! and the first result will forward() you here. To give a brief this site is developed by IIT Bombay showing the routes of buses and trains across the city.
Considering the stature of IIT, nobody can ask for such shoddy work with the development of a product from them. You are representing the IIT.
Remember you are listed on the top of every search engine result and we the seekers follow what is shown first(usually).

Observations and Suggestions :
Use better search algorithms to match keywords and remove case sensitivity.For example, you could have used String Tokenizer of the java.util package to break strings to returnDelims flag having the value true or false.
You could have used JSP with servlets instead of just Servlets to make the site dynamic.
Also the maps are inaccurate in many cases.
Update the routes or stops of buses. For instance, the bus 403 Ltd has a different route than the one shown here.

I have immense respect for the IIT. Give best if you give any.

The candy bar in my hands.

The league of best phones is just underway. I picked one from the gamut.
Considering various factors that one can expect for a gadget to be complete, the n82 also adds a better edge than the n95.Carl Zeiss lens is the only take away for n82 from n95. Just 8 days from its arrival, I am impressed with its ability to curb the possible* complexities (handling multi-tasking with ease). The ratings of various editors sites are easily favoring this phone for its GPS self-receiving property, 2592 x 1944 pixels picture capturing, good enough phone memory ( 2 GB external micro SD card included [extendable slot to 8 gb] ), mentioned earlier the Carl Zeiss optics with flash and lastly its looks.
While the touchy keypad and the qwerty types seem to be getting popular in the new
comers, this phone follows the cool old type of keypad with no difficulty.Expecting this to stand up to my high expectations at least as long as the N91 (which was nearly for 2 years I used).

Wait wait Google, i've got something before you take me for garbage collection.

I am back with Asia's Largest Technology festival at the IIT, Mumbai. Definitely the best time, more things to explore.
Thanks to the weekend arrangements, I barely missed anything at the Techfest. In fact I got to meet a special person personally.
Special is because, like me,he is a strong supporter for open source.We call him the Father of Open Source. Working for Linux International, a non-profit company, he is Jon "maddog" Hall.
He is taking many efforts to enlighten Linux (Open Source) in the virtual society. We held him for more than a hour after his panel discussion on Open Source. My Guru used to get his books in his younger days for reading.
There are many interesting points that we came to know about.He even said many things on the old rivals the Bill Gates Corporation Microsoft.

Wikia Founder at the Asia's Largest Technology Festival

I'm afraid i could not put some videos on my phone which were the Nano technology by Prof.v. Ramgopal Rao ,Henry Schaefer's ideas on the Big Bang theory, Stephan Hawkings and God,
Sylvester James Gates Jr's Super Symmetry Theory,Prof. Harold Thimbleby and Robert Kahn the Father of the Internet which could get more attention.

But I got a apple size cherry. Got to meet Jimmy Wales the founder of Wikipedia. The crowd turned out to be the largest ever present for his lecture (according to him). I asked him two questions.He answered both of them. First being saturation of Wiki and another difficulties of Wiki. Thats the self-signed pamphlet that I got from Jimbo. Photosynth & Sea Dragon

One more guest at the IIT, Mumbai Techfest was Blaise Aguera y Arcas the Architect of Seadragon and Photosynth.
Some very nice demos from him really left us jaw dropping. He was more recognized when Microsoft's Live Labs undertook his project in feb last year.
He said he was very happy when Microsoft called him. The applications will be available soon this year. But for now you can see what he showed us.

Java is hot property. The most incredible thing about Java is its open source nature. We have more reasons to venerate it. My java trainer loves to have a cup of hot tea when we are together.After spending some time, we often visit a place where we get hot tea
in this Sun Microsystem logo-look-alike cup-saucer.Isn't it noteworthy, how java follows us.
We definitely feel strong making Java work on different IDEs.
As if we are in the same realm.The high end projects that worth millions are made in Java.Pivoting on the next degree, java technology is unparalleled, now running in over 1.5 billion devices worldwide.So who can destroy it..

Java has stood well with Network Security. Securing authentication of a person's digital identity. Recently it has been used to make smart cards for e-government kiosks introduced in Thailand.
Also NASA is planning to issue a Java technology-based "One NASA" smart card to increase agency security and simplify security management.

Ultimately Why .NET and others are not Java? Security. Yes

Portable is Good

I remember owning one of those Frisbee shaped portable CD players in the distant past. It was great in a primitive portable technology way. It was too big, you could not move a muscle while a song was playing, and you had to have three jobs just to keep it in batteries every week.
But, with the advent of digital music and video players I have never looked back, until now. This is the attractively named TF-DVD7333 V-Zon from Coby. It’s Swivel Screen turns 180 degree and designed to play my DVDs, CDs and MP3. The 7" TFT LCD is cute and it has the all important shockproof technology built in. It comes with a rechargeable battery that will last 6 hours. When the price is right and the device is portable the deal is feasible.
The friend next stationed is common to all of us.

Maglev trains

I remember once I asked my guru on how the trains in japan work..it is like this according to HowStuffWorks.com : They are called Maglev Train Rail System, this technology works on Electromagnetic Suspension (EMS).."If you've ever played with magnets, you know that opposite poles attract and like poles repel each other. This is the basic principle behind electromagnetic propulsion.

The magnetic field created in the copper wire-and-battery experiment is the simple idea behind a maglev train rail system. There are three components to this system:

* A large electrical power source
* Metal coils lining a guideway or track
* Large guidance magnets attached to the underside of the train

The magnetized coil running along the track, called a guideway, repels the large magnets on the train's undercarriage, allowing the train to levitate between 0.39 and 3.93 inches (1 to 10 cm) above the guideway."
While it was first developed and used in Japan and Germany, other governments are also approving this technology. To have a better idea go and watch the hollywood movie Minority Report which actually inspires me to write this post.

My Old Friend.Yes, Belarc Advisor. As I follow C|Net Editors for my choice of softwares, it has 5 out of 5 to its name. It is a very useful program that automatically generates a detailed report of the hardware and software on your computer. It records essential information such as operating system and processor details, the amount of RAM installed, and drive specifications. The report includes a comprehensive list of the software installed on your system as well as software licence numbers and product keys. It even lists Microsoft hotfixes and lets you know if any of these require reinstalling.To show all these details, it creates a html page on its own. Don't worry it does not need a internet connection for the solving.From missing patches of your OS , guiding with the appropriate link for the same,it is a true friend.Whoever I come across with I give this in complement.You want it too? get it here.

Back to School

Visiting St.John the Evangilist High School after ages was obviously a big feeling. I am proud to say that I am proud to be a part of it. I have done my primary and secondary schooling from here(a beautiful journey of 13 years), thus having a emotional feeling towards it. Experiencing the quality, which still looks unchanged I can easily say that this school is known to churn out excellent students. Few upgrades that I saw, while a recent visit for a recommendation letter from school. Reconstruction of the old primary school, it is also developed with a television set in every class.This is a tv set of the Vice-Principal's office. It looks good with everything furbished. More prominently it has never compromised with its assiduous efforts towrds its every representative and name.  Even today i was asked for permission to enter the teachers room. It was lovely to see all the gods around, without their blessings and their auspicious presence I couldn't had achieved things in my life. I hope to see this school reaching its deserved heights when i get my child here for an interview.

My first smartphone

Finally I am God. Why God? well my Guru knows that. Since I passed the OCA(Oracle Certified Associate) dad introduced me to this technology which I would look up at with very high respect.Yes to sum up this phone in a line, Storage for up to 3000 songs, smartphone functionality, an ultra-portable package - and I got what is called as the Nokia N91. Till the craze of Multimedia phones is living around, there was nothing like a heavy weight phone like this. Nokia has actually moved forward with the current technology in its business respect. Also blending it with style of new generation and ease of use factor.

Oracle

I was at it for OCA(Oracle Certified Associate).All the mates were atleast not less than5-6 years older to me.Considering my first exam outside my academic times, I was alredy nervous. Everything was going good and I was happy to solve each question, thanks to the hard preparations prior to the exam date. I was just to click the result option after completing my Exam and Web Survey, the page could not be displayed.
For more than three hours, we were asked to wait but it still didnt turn up till we were actually asked to leave and to check our results online next day. It was a shocking belief for me when my family and I sat down next day to see my results. I was given 71%, which is just the passing percentage for the developer track. I could easily challenge Oracle and had actually crossed checked my attempted questions, that I was supposed to get atleast not less than 85%. They didnt give me a customized result for the same exam.
It was nothing but a funny instance and a mere disgrace on the part of Oracle.
